50 years ago today Sunday September 30, 1973 The last game at the old Yankee Stadium was played. I was sitting field level along the Left Field line. When it re opened in 1976 it did not feel like Yankee Stadium to me.

I can understand what you’re saying barkeep. I’ve yet to go to the “new” Yankee stadium, but I’m wanting to go. I went back in 1998 before they closed that stadium. I’m sure it’s not going to feel the same to me either. I’ll never understand why they felt the need for a new one. The Yankees have such a rich baseball history and yet they can’t claim one of the oldest ballpark titles. I don’t know why that bothers me so much, but it does.

For me half of it is me missing my youth. The only time I ever went into that old Yankee Stadium was as a teenager. There is a park with three baseball fields where the old stadium once stood. I have a feeling one day when they are done with this current stadium they will build a new one in that spot.
