What did the winning Yankee Pitcher in game six of the 1977 World Series, The game that Reggie Jackson hit the three home runs in a row, And the Red Sox losing pitcher in the one game playoff in 1978 where Bucky Dent hit that famous home run have in common? A clue. It was a very big in common.

Did they attend the same college? Yes. Because they were the same person. Mike Torres. Won the World Series with the Yankees in 1977. The winning pitcher in the Reggie Jackson three home run game. Signed with the Boston Red Sox in 1978. Gave up the Bucky Dent three run home run. Dent came into that game with just 4 home runs all year. Ron Guidry was 24 and 3 going into that game. The Yankees were worried because all three losses Guidry had that year, The winning pitcher for the other sides first name was Mike. By the way, In the top of the first inning of that game six World Series game where Jackson hit the three home runs the Dodger scored an unearned run because Bucky Dent made an error.

I always like Mike Torres. He had his ups and downs, but he eventually became a durable starter.
