I'm very surprised by that they didn't win this series in 5 or 6 games, but they are still in it. Look at it this way, the Panthers are facing elimination as well.

Out of the playoffs after one of the greatest regular seasons in history. As the saying goes, "that's why they play the game." For some reason great regular seasons not translating to the playoffs seems to be a big thing in the NHL. I think the game just changes so much from the regular season to the playoffs. It's like the season is starting over.
I enjoy the fact that, when great regular season teams fail to advance in playoffs, it highlights the ridiculous idea that some have that the best teams can be picked by observation or statistical analysis. Best example of is this is the recent NCAA Basketball Tournament, where the teams the "experts," and computer models ranked high, mostly all got eliminate, many of them early in the tournament.

Out of the playoffs after one of the greatest regular seasons in history. In all 4 sports Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, And Football the team that had the best record or the most points did not win the championship.

I should have bet on that game, I would've won. I had no doubt they were going to lose the game. The media talks about it non stop and makes such a big deal about it, to the point of not talking about anything else. I think it gets to the players and is more of a jinx when they do that than it is a help to them. Typical Boston team ways, get to the end and don't win the trophy. Knowing the world we live in, the games are probably fixed and those in charge probably got a great pay day by them losing. Not many pay outs.

The thing is these guys make more money than they would make on a bribe. Even if they were offered $1,000,000 each it would be less than they make in half a season. The average salary for an NHL player is $2,500,000 a year and they would risk losing it all for life. Now like in the old days they made $30,000 to $50,000 a year I could see them taking the risk.

BK, True, but the NHL coaches etc. everything is connected to Hollywood these days and that's a big illusion. The "Stars" telling you one thing to sell it and in reality feel the opposite way in private. But have no problem selling a false statement regardless that it's harmful.
Remember NHL didn't go rainbow wearing uniforms only because some players said they would walk rather than go that route.
When you own, the media, Hollywood, sports, radio, newspapers, magazine, etc. It's all one in the same with the same goal, money, money, money.
Money isn't the root of all evil, people behind it are. I just put nothing past those in charge, who are pulling the strings.

June. They would never allow a NHL game to be rigged. A Presidential election YES! But not a sports game. That they would never tolerate.

I think it would be very difficult to rig a professional game for the reasons barkeep mentioned. I do believe some owners of poor performing teams try and "tank" their teams to get a better position for the draft. Even then, it is only so effective because no player is going to help the team obtain a better chance of drafting said player's replacement.

It is easy for a baseball team to tank a game without throwing the game. You just call up a minor league pitcher to start the game. And if that doesn't work then you put Gary Sanchez in your starting line up.

I hate to think of cheating in any kind of competition, especially pro sports. To June's point, I think it's more than possible that it does occur behind the great "OZ" curtain. Likely in the lower levels of leagues where the media tends to ignore. I do think NHL hockey would be the hardest for a player or players to throw a game.
We do not have the NHL in my city, but we do have the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and they just advanced to the next round of the Kelly Cup. I'm thinking of going Saturday night.
