Speaking of Amazon, I am on their e-mail notification list too but is it just my area or have they upped the free shipping to $35 everywhere? It wasn't that hard, with DVDs to get at or a little over $25 but most of the Gunsmoke DVDs are not quite $35 (fortunately). I am wondering if everyone else is seeing the same thing.

The reason Mike is money. They make more of it doing it piecemeal. Still, they could put out 3 sets - 1 for the 1/2-hour shows, 1 for the hour B&Ws & 1 for the color episodes. This would make them a goodly profit because they could charge a fairly high sum for each set. At the same time, they could price it so folks on fixed incomes (the case due to age for many GS fans) could split the cost of the entire set into 3 payments instead of one huge lump sum. They could sell the individual seasons in addition to the packages for those who want only certain seasons for whatever reason. Anyway, I'm hoping for a season 10 release date real soon now.
Brenda-Amazon has upped their free shipping to 35.00 for all states I believe and now is adding on state tax also- Your correct it wasn't that difficult to get up to 25.00 to qaulify for free shipping before but 35.00 is harder and more costly than to pay the shipping cost-
It's stinks and I personally think this price hike may hurt them, I know it hurts us the consumers- I wonder when do things start going down verses up? lol
Thanks Rounds. There are many places that won't ship where I live and Amazon has always been good to have free shipping here. Is great on bigger items like Chain saws, ladders, electronic equipment, but will hurt for books and DVDs. Obviously most people on this site are concerned with the DVDs. Wonder how much they will charge for shipping now? Hopefully they don't put the DVDs to $34.95.
I also monitor release dates at www.dvdsreleasedates.com They used to be quicker than Amazon but the past year Amazon has been super good about letting us know earliest. If it is any consolation there are a lot more companies, not just individuals, on ebay and offer free shipping. I check both places before buying hardly anything.

I'd be happy if they issued them the same way they did Season 1 - the complete season as a set that cost the same as a half-season for subsequent issues. I'd also wish for them to issue them at a faster pace, say 2 or 3 seasons per year. If they issue Season 12 this year, it will still take 4 years to complete the run & if they don't manage season 12 this year & issue 3 per year, it will take 3 years for all the seasons.
I think your being a bit optimistic LC if your thinking we will be having all 20 years released on DVD in the next 4 years. Last year is the closest they have ever come to releasing 3 Seasons in one year as they actually released 2 seasons. They seem to be making up for that now as there is no hint of a Season 12 release which I'm thinking will be sometime next year. That will probably be Season 12, Volume 1 and then Volume 2 will most likely be the year after that. We could be talking about the full 20 seasons being completed in the next 18 or 19 years. There doesn't seem to be any rush by CBS/Paramont to get the entire 20 years released. Hope I'm wrong. Heck, I may not make it that long to get to see the 20th year released.
