In one of the B&W 30 min.eps (don't recall the title) Matt comes into Kitty's room to ask her something. It's important. Can't remember the particulars right now. I'll have to rewatch Anyway, she's in a bathtub bathing. She's covered in soap bubbles and you can see her bare back. She's telling Matt not to come in. He's got this little look on his face like he wants to go in but he doesn't. Now, I know that this was made in the 50s and it wasn't acceptable for a man to walk in on a nude woman in a bahtub, especailly on a TV show.....BUT, these are two people you've been 'dating' (as in dinner at Delmonicos)and flirting and giving each other these very intimate looks. So, even for the average adult 50s audience it seemed clear, or at least probable, that they'd seen each other naked before. So, why is Kitty so shy with a man that it's hinted at she'd been intimate with? Or is it so early in the relationship that maybe they haven't gone 'there' yet.
I just think it's curious that the writers included that scene. Was it to show they hadn't been intimate...yet, and that kitty was still shy around Matt. Was it just for a little fun sexual innuendo. Scenes like this are fun but slightly confusing for an M/K fan.
What ever the reasoning, it was a sweet scene and a little daring for it's day.
These are also the days where Jack Parr of the Tonite Show was fired for saying "water closet". There was very little that could be said on TV that was in referrence to personal habits. It sure isnt that way now. Here is another picture I was surprised to see.

The scene in Doc's Reward was quite daring for 50s TV, a time when married couples slept in twin beds. Since it was Season 3 it was still relatively early in their relationship, but once Kitty came out of the bath in her robe, Matt felt quite relaxed about asking her for the favor. That's a sign of a couple whose relationship has progressed beyond the initial dating where each is trying to feel his/her way in dealing with the other. I think it was part of the strategy of teasing the audience about just what M & K's relationship really was so the audience would keep tuning in. The publicity photo Jane refers to was also part of that strategy and I'd love to see it.
Dangit! I was hopin' that bed pic was for real. I'm semi-new to the show so I've not seen near all the eps, yet. I should have known it was a fake or one of the M/K fans would have talked about it before now
Thanks for posting it, Mike.
That bathtub scene in "Doc's Reward" (thanks for refreshing my memory, singerme was pretty daring for 1958. I mean, you could see her whole neekid back. That would have been revealing for the 60s, too...I think.
I'm not sure what purpose the scene serves other than to showcased AB's lovely shoulders and back....and, of course, a little sexual chemistry between M&K. It was a fun little scene, so I'm Happy it was there.
Matt asking Kitty to more or less do what ever it takes to get Jack Lord's character to spill some info was very interesting. What if it took more than getting him drunk? Ya know...like, what if it took...um, sex?
Not many people really come out and say it and I don't want to sound like Captain Obvious...BUT, Kitty was a prostitute, right? And, in the latter eps, a madam, right? Or, was she just a flirty barmaid?
If her profession ever bothered Matt, he never seemed to show it. He sure didn't shy away from asking her to use her sexuality to pry info from a mysterious cowboy.
