I always thought she looked the most beautiful in the last 5 or 6 seasons. They didn't have her hair as brassy colored, like in The Jailor, and they cut down on the eye shadow and let her natural beauty show more.

In the early years of the color episodes I thought they really overdid the makeup. There was so much paint her face looked unreal, kinda like some elderly women of our parents' generation who pour on the face powder in an effort to take away the years when they'd actually look far more attractive if it were applied much more sparingly.
Actually, I think it had a lot to do with going from B&W to color...? Also , it reminds me of an ep. with Ruth Roman .. and a conversation she has with Matt ... she was a Madam and she talks to him about..losing her looks in that business and having to load on the paint to try and look beautiful to get Men's attention.. can't imagine?

Youthful reaction is quite telling. My goddaughter was visiting recently and joined me in watching a GS episode. She exclaimed, upon looking at AB in the episode, "She's beautiful!" Out of the mouth of 20-year-olds who strangely enough was introduced to GS through the radio shows broadcast locally on WAMU, American University's station.

Family, with friends I hope to launch amandablake.org within the next day or so. I am asking her admirers to send messages to me to post to the site and I am hoping all of you will. Kit has made a wonderful video of all of Amanda's roles! It is going to be a celebration of her life on and off the screen.
Life isn't divided into genres. It's a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction COWBOY detective novel.
